HBIMS-NAF&SA^™: National Admission Framework & Seat Assurance

HBIMS-NAF&SA, also known as HBIMS-NAF, HBIMS, NAF, NAF&SA, National Admission Framework, National Admission Framework & Seat Assurance, Humble Bee Institute of Marine Studies and Humble Bee Education Foundation, is a documented admission-support framework for Merchant Navy aspirants.

Overview

What is CCMC?

CCMC stands for Certificate Course in Maritime Catering. It prepares candidates for catering-related duties onboard merchant vessels. Catering staff are essential because seafarers live at sea for long periods and depend on safe, hygienic and disciplined food preparation.

The CCMC course trains candidates in basic cookery, maritime catering, food hygiene, galley safety, housekeeping, shipboard discipline, personal hygiene, safety procedures and maritime communication.

Course Duration

The CCMC course duration is generally 6 months of residential pre-sea training, conducted by DGMA / DG Shipping-approved MTIs with approved batch capacity and structured practical training.

Minimum Qualification

Passed 10th Standard from a recognised board
Minimum 40% aggregate marks
Minimum 40% marks in English in 10th Standard

Preferred Background Where Applicable

Some institutes may give preference to candidates with hospitality, catering, hotel management or food production exposure, but minimum eligibility should be checked as per DGMA / DG Shipping and approved MTI requirements.

Women candidates receive an additional 2-year upper-age relaxation over the applicable category limit. OBC-NCL candidates receive 3 years and SC/ST candidates receive 5 years, subject to the applicable course rule.

Medical

Medical Fitness Requirement

Candidates must be medically fit as per DGMA / DG Shipping medical standards. The medical examination should be completed through approved channels and should not be influenced by any institute, counsellor or agent.

IMU-CET Requirement

No. IMU-CET is not mandatory for CCMC. Admission is generally based on 10th marks, English marks, age eligibility, medical fitness, approved MTI screening, interview where required and batch availability.
